General Information

MİTTO (Marmara Innovation Technology and Transfer Office) Coordinatorship, which was established in accordance with the decision of the meeting of our University Senate dated 08 May 2012 and numbered 322-4, has been operating since 10 September 2012 in Göztepe Campus and continues its activities as the center with the publication of the "Marmara University Innovation and Technology Transfer Application and Research Center" in the Official Gazette dated 08 October 2017 and numbered 30204. The management level of MİTTO is formed with the Directorate and the Board of Directors under the roof of the Rectorate.

MİTTO, within the scope of the national science, technology, and innovation strategy, brings together domestic and international support for scientific research and lifelong learning under a single roof. It also facilitates the announcement of national and international scientific support opportunities. It also facilitates the creation of university-level solutions to all problems encountered during project applications, the restructuring of projects that have been revisited or rejected, the monitoring of supported projects, and the execution of their financial management. It also facilitates the provision of legal and technical support at every stage of the research and development process. It also facilitates the promotion of scientific research. It also facilitates the licensing and commercialization of intellectual property outcomes of projects developed at the University by providing administrative and legal consultancy.

As MİTTO, we aim to position our institution within the entrepreneurship ecosystem within the framework of our own values ​​and continue our activities in this direction. To this end  , we serve our faculty, students, and other entrepreneurship enthusiasts within our sphere of influence through Entrepreneurship and Incorporation Activities . Our core service, founded in 2016, is the MİTTO Pre-Incubation Program. Supported by the TÜBİTAK 1601 Project in 2018-2019, the program received entrepreneurship training and mentoring services from Mentors Network Turkey. Three of the teams receiving this service were incorporated in 2018-2019. Five teams have gained entry into BİGG implementing organizations and other top entrepreneurship organizations. Our other services within the scope of Entrepreneurship and Incorporation Activities include awareness events/training, B2B consulting services for prospective entrepreneur students and faculty, information about the BİGG Individual Young Entrepreneurship Program, and referrals to implementing organizations. We plan and maintain our activities with a boutique service approach.

In line with the mission of Marmara University, MİTTO has undertaken this task to increase the competitiveness of the Turkish economy through University-Industry Collaboration.

MITTO aims to develop advanced projects and conduct research in the fields of Chemistry (Bioengineering), Machinery-Electrical Equipment (Additive Manufacturing, Traditional Manufacturing Technologies, Machine Design and Manufacturing), Medical Devices (Biomedical Equipment Technologies), Automotive and Rail Systems (Internal Combustion Engine and Engine Drivetrain, Rail Systems), and Pharmaceuticals (Pharmaceutical Technology), which have been identified as priority sectors in the 11th Development Plan and within the scope of Marmara University's Field-Based Competency Analysis of TUBITAK Universities and the University-Based Focus Area Matching of Research Universities by the Higher Education Council. In the field matchings conducted by the Council of Higher Education, Marmara University stands out especially in the fields of Religious Sciences, History, Sociology, Smart and Innovative Materials, Biotechnology, and Clinical Research (Immunology, Rheumatology).

Our 11th Development Plan aims to ensure technological transformation and enhance competitiveness in 12 critical technological areas identified as high-value-added. MİTTO is working diligently to develop public-university-industry collaborations to generate technology consistent with these goals.

The European Green Deal is one of MİTTO's most important goals. The aim is to develop R&D and innovative projects to achieve the Green Deal policies, which aim to make Europe climate neutral by 2050. Among these policies, we contribute to the development of projects in the areas of clean energy, sustainable industry, and sustainable transportation.

In summary , our main goals are to ensure compliance with the Marmara University Strategic Plan (2021-2025) , to examine global developments, to closely monitor legal requirements/conditions and technical standards, and to carry out objective analyses by taking into account our country's research and development needs and the need to strengthen University-Industry Collaboration.
